Newhalem Creek Trail Topo Map

Newhalem Creek Trail Topo Map

This quiet trail, an old logging road that is becoming more traillike with each passing year, follows a forested valley near Newhalem Creek in Ross Lake National Recreation Area and North Cascades National Park. This old trail is not featured in many hiking guides, nor was there a sign at the trailhead in the spring of 2000. Park Service personnel and volunteers occasionally brush out the first mile of the trail, but for the most part the trail is left to natures whims; alders and brush are taking over the trail. Spring and fall rather than summer are the best times to hike the trail due to the brush; the trail is at its best in October when the leaves of the deciduous trees turn golden. There are views of Newhalem Creek along the beginning of the trail. For most hikers the metal bridge at 1.8 miles will be far enough. One of Washingtons best hikes, Newhalem Creek Trail is located near Newhalem, WA. Trails printable online topo maps offer shaded and unshaded reliefs, and aerial photos too!
